Motocross goggles play a vital role in ensuring the safety and performance of riders. In this post we will be going over and ranking the Top 3 of The Best Motocross Goggles available in 2023. But first, Here are some key reasons why Motocross Goggles are important – not just in Motocross, but in Enduro, Flat Track, ATV Riding, Hill Climbs, and many more forms of riding and racing.
- Eye Protection
- Clear Vision
- Protection from UV Rays
- Comfort and Fit
- Tear-Off or Roll-off Compatibility (We have a post comparing the benefits of each, click here to read)
It is important to stay up to date with the latest improvements being made to Motocross Goggles for reasons such as safety improvements, comfortability, designs, and durability. With every new model comes improved materials, improved design, improved functionality, and more. Lenses have improved tremendously in just the past few years, and things like 3d printing make the possibilities endless when it comes to the frames. You can even get goggles with magnetic lenses that can be changed in a matter of seconds (hint: read on to the “What sets these Motocross Goggles apart from the rest?“ section to see what I’m talking about!)

So – Which 3 Motocross Goggles will we be ranking?
First up, we have the Havoc Racing Magnetic Frameless Goggles. These Goggles come in 5 color-ways (Flamingo, Hammerhead, Obsidian, Patriot, and States) and will run you around $85 USD on Amazon.
Next, is the 100% Armega® Goggle. These goggles have nearly 40 color-ways and will run you around $80 USD on Amazon depending on options chosen.
And last, but certainly not least, we have the Fly Racing Zone Goggle. I wanted to be sure that I included a more budget-friendly option that can still perform with the top dogs, for all you weekend warriors out there. This model comes in just under 30 color-ways and can run you anywhere from $25 to $50 USD depending on the color-way and size.
What sets these Motocross Goggles apart from the rest?
Havoc Racing Magnetic Frameless Goggles
The Havoc Racing Magnetic Frameless Goggles are certainly a game changer when it comes to innovation, design, and practicality.
These Goggles are some of the most comfortable and practical goggles you can get due to the frameless design and the new magnetic lens feature. Let’s say your riding in the dunes – the last bit of sun sets over the horizon and all of a sudden your blind due to the tinted lens.. Now what? Instead of spending the last 20 minutes of light popping a different lens into place, or having to dish out another $100 for a separate pair of goggles, you can simply snap on your clear lens in a matter of seconds and be back out getting those last few precious minutes of riding before it’s too late.
Other than lenses, Havoc also offers replacement straps for your pair making it possible to completely customize the look of your goggles to what suits you the most.
With the frameless design, you get the widest field of view possible. This also allows for great air flow which can help to keep you cool in the roughest of conditions. Reviews for the Havoc Racing Goggles state that these Goggles are able to avoid fogging up regardless of when and where.
100% Armega Goggle
The 100% Armega® Goggle is on this list for an obvious reason. These are the Top MX Goggles for many riders due to their proven success, great looks, high quality, and brand awareness. While the lens is not magnetic, these MX Goggles also offer a quick-change lens feature. These take closer to a minute to swap out compared to the few seconds on the Havoc MX Goggles.
Being a bit more costly than the other two pairs on the list, these Goggles make up for it with their performance and reputation. 100%, for years now, has been known for their superior lens quality. These MX Goggles feature the new proprietary HiPER® contrast–enhancing lens, molded locking tabs for the lens, and a bonded, duel-injected frame. These MX Goggles have beefy, tough straps that will not fray, tear, or slip off of your helmet.
While these goggles do have a wide field of view, they are still able to fit into the face opening of the majority of helmets without any issues. The only downside to these Goggles that I would like to point out is the price. Certain versions will cost you up to $90 or $100 USD. That extra $20 adds up if you prefer to have multiple pairs of goggles that match your different gear sets.
Fly Racing Zone Goggle
The Fly Racing Zone Goggle may not be the hottest Goggles on this list, but trust me – they hold their own. These Goggles share most of the features that the big-hitters have, such as a polycarbonate anti-scratch & anti-fog lens. Frames designed for increased field of view, and Fly’s own version of a quick change lens. All of this while staying at a fraction of a price of the others. With all of the color options, you can have a pair to match every single set of gear or helmet without breaking the bank.
The Moment Of Truth: Who’s on the podium?
3. The Fly Racing Zone Goggle
While these Goggles are a great option for just about anyone, I’m going to put them third on the list due to the following reasons:
- No Nose-guard Included: Roost plays a huge role in motocross and can not only compromise your vision, but can also inflict injuries. I have seen rocks get kicked up by one rider, just to end up in the following riders face (He ended up with a broken nose!). If you don’t race or ride in close proximity of other riders, then this is not an issue for you.
- The anti-fog coating is not perfect: Riders have reported that in snow conditions, these Goggles will tend to fog up occasionally, however this has not been everyone’s experience. For some, this may be a deal breaker. For others, it may not make a difference.
2. The Havoc Racing Magnetic Frameless Goggles
I absolutely love these Goggles. They look amazing, they are incredibly comfortable, and the quick-change magnetic lens is one of the coolest features I have ever seen on an MX Goggle. However, I have one issue with these Goggles, and that is the only reason for me not putting the Havoc Racing Goggles first on the list.
I come from a Motocross and Flat Track Racing background. If I’m halfway thru a moto, make a mistake, and end up slamming my head on the bars – the last thing I want is for my lens to pop out. Then, I’m left with no vision and potentially dirt in my eyes for the rest of the race. With that being said, if I am just messing around in the yard or doing some trail/free riding, these are certainly my go-to Goggles.
Winner: The 100% Armega® Goggle
There is a few key reasons as to why this MX Goggle came in first place:
- Lens Design: As mentioned earlier, 100% is on top of the game when it comes to lens quality. If there’s one thing you can instantly do to drastically improve your performance on the track, it’s going to be your vision. If you can’t properly see what line your taking or can’t see a kicker on the take off of a 60 foot double, this could be devastating.
- Quick-change lens: While the lens on these Goggles can’t be swapped out in a matter of seconds like the magnetic lens on the Havoc Racing Goggles, these Goggles feature locking tabs that allow you to quickly swap lenses. On these Goggles, it will be closer to one minute. You won’t have to worry about the lens accidentally falling out in the instance you crash or hit your head on the bars.
- Reputation: 100% has proven their ability to be a leader in the MX Goggle industry. Riders like Jett Lawrence, Dylan Ferrandis, Tom Vialle, Aaron Plessinger, Cooper Webb, Marvin Musquin, Haiden Deegan and many more all choose to represent this brand. With such big names going with 100%, I feel a little better about spending the extra change on these Goggles.
Wrapping Up
By now, you should be able to make an informed decision on what pair you will be going with, and what makes these Goggles worth upgrading to in 2023. It is important to remember the factors of what sets each pair apart and what it is that you require for your type of riding or racing. If you are still unsure of which pair of MX Goggles to go with, I recommend you review the benefits listed for each pair and head over to Amazon to see which designs you like the most.
